What are the amenities in Lo Crispin, besides the community swimming pool?  Shopping/supermarket (even a small one?) - and if so, what can you buy there.  What amenities are in development? What are the pluses and what are the minuses?  We are thinking of buying a house there.  We are retired but want a place our children, with grandchildren, would like to come to.  Thank you.  Mari

There are a couple of bar/restaurants . The Tavern right down at the bottom has quizzes, bingo,  regular entertainment. It has a huge outdoor seating area (or two) as well as a play area for children.

In the middle of Lo Crispin, you have a commercial centre, which houses the other bar/restaurantcalled La Hacienda , again regular entertainment, quizzes etc.  there’s also  little supermarket and cafe, a hairdresser and estate agent.  I think a Belgian bar has recently opened, maybe even more amenities as it’s been a couple of months since I was on Lo Crispin - for the Christmas Fabre at the Tavern!

If you want a bigger choice of bars, it’s a bit of a hike to walk as I think the only way off Lo Crispin is through Lo Crispin Arch. From there  nearest place to go is  Quesada Arches, where the nearest supermarkets will be Mas y Mas and Lidl as well as a better choice of  eating places.  Although someone more local might know of a footpath, to shorten your journey.

So even though Lo Crispin is part of Algorfa, apart from all your legal/official stuff being dealt with by the Ayuntamiento in Algorfa, you’d probably spend most of your time in Quesada, if only for the reason that it’s nearer!

Looks as though there’s a high ratio of properties to communal pool, which could mean in the summer months the pool may get incredibly busy, but again you need  exact advice from whoever lives on which community  you are thinking of purchasing.

You might get a bit more information if you ask the questions on the sister Talk Quesada forum.

Personally I view Lo Crispin as a car dependent location, especially with grandchildren.  You would want to go to Quesada and it's a fair walk, and unless there's a back route, it's along a busy road.  So i would say only buy there if you are happy about hiring a car each visit, or keeping a car in Spain.  The urbanisation is lower priced than some other areas, quiet in winter but obviously busier in summer months.  Algorfa doesn't allow new tourist rental licenses, so you wouldn't be able to do holiday letting - you haven't mentioned wanting to, but you may not be aware of the restriction, so best to mention.  If you are looking for a place with more for visiting family then Quesada or Orihuela Costa may be a better option - both have areas where there is plenty to do within walking distance.

Thank you for the information.  We're residents and have a car here.  We are in an apartment atm in Villamartin and it's not conducive to family visiting to us for various reasons - whereas the house we're buying in Lo Crispin is near the pool.  It pretty much ticks all the boxes for our needs.  All the best- M.

Hi Mari,

We are fairly new to Lo Crispin but the community vibe here is really welcoming. There is a big bar/restaurant at the top of the urb called Lo Crispin Tavern, you can find them on Facebook. They always have entertainment on. Further towards the beginning of the urb just the the arches, there is another bar, which is smaller, called La Hacienda, this is situated within the commercial centre area. They tend to focus on bingo and poker days.

The commercial centre currently has La Hacienda, an estate agents, a hairdressers, a small supermarket/cafe and a restaurant called Koeke10, which I think is Danish food...they only open until 2pm. There is a unit currently being refurbished which I've heard to be a grooming parlor. There is also another larger unit which I have heard that has been purchased and is due to be a restaurant.

On the urb there are several community pools and depending on where you buy depends on which pool you can use. As I suspect most communal pools do, they all have rules.

The urb has a cultural society (€5 per year) which organises trips out, but you don't have to be a member to take advantage of these trips 😉.

The downside is there isn't any public transport to/from Lo Crispin, and to be fair there isn't much in the surrounding areas either, so you would need a car. Quesada is a 30min walk and there are lots of bars/restaurants there, banks, estate agents and shops.

Hope this helps.
