Returning to U.K. with my pet dog
We are returning permanently to the U.K. next month and will be taking our pet dog with us via Brittany Ferries. She has a U.K. issued pet passport which is up to date with all her vaccinations and she is booked in for her tapeworm treatment before we are due to travel. I had understood that as we are not coming back to the EU we could return to the U.K. on her old passport with her tapeworm treatment recorded. The vet today said he had heard that some carriers (he thought it may have been Eurotunnel) were not accepting an EU vet recording in a U.K. pet passport. If I have to get an Animal Health certificate I will do and will certainly check with Brittany Ferries what their policy is but I wondered whether anyone else had experienced similar issues with this. I understand the need for an EU passport if you want to bring your pet back into the EU but if not, it seems an unnecessary formality. Would welcome any views.
