To all my wiser than I forum friends.

I own a house with my wife in Los Dolses. We completed our purchase in July last year. We are completeing our Modelo 210 tax forms for 2023 IRNR tax. 50% each based on 164 days ownership in 2023.

I have filled out, filed and set up the direct debit payment for my Modelo 210 tax form online using my digital certificate. No need to print or go to the bank. Perfect job done!

My question is. My wife does not have a digital certificate and I'm hoping to fill out, file and set up the direct debit for her although i am struggling to work out how? Seems my digital certificate will not allow me to file the 210 on her behalf even though I have completed with all her NIE etc details.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris.

It is my understanding that you cannot use your digital certificate to submit someone else's information. In your case I suspect the system doesn't recognise your partner's NIE against your details.

The Tax Agency information states:

"If the declarant does not have an electronic certificate, it is necessary that the person making the presentation be authorized to present statements on behalf of third parties, either by being registered as a collaborator or by being authorized to carry out this procedure."

https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/en_gb/ayuda/consultas-informaticas/presentacion-declaraciones-ayuda-tecnica/modelo-210/presentacion-electronica-modelo-210.html

Thanks for your advice and the link John. I will research further. I had read that my wife can give me power of attorney via the 210P form but this also requires her to have a dig cert.

Do you know if it's possible to get a digital cert while in the UK. I.e. not needing a visit to Spain to complete?

Thanks again

Chris.

Hello Chris

I found this statement online:

"You can request the FNMT-RCM digital certificate both from within the country and from abroad. If you have any queries about the process for obtaining the digital certificate from abroad, a guide is available on the FNMT-RCM (Royal Mint of Spain) website which has all the relevant information (only in Spanish)."

This is the link:

Here is another link to guidance on applying issued by Age in Spain:

Good luck, John

You could use the following link to complete your wife's IRNR declaration without using a digital signature. https://www2.agenciatributaria.gob.es/wlpl/OV17-M210/index.zul

I'm not too sure of the procedure to pay via Wise or Starling.

We have, in the past, used a N26 account and transferred funds to the AEAT account using a bank transfer and quoting the taxpayers NIE in the reference. I seem to remember that it had to be in a certain format.

Good luck
