Sorry we got this advice yesterday from our tax accountant here in Spain.

Can’t thank you enough for this up to date information. I can only trust that this remains law forever.

Terry again very useful info, you seem to have a better understanding of how it works than I have, despite also having read up on it 😕 Do you know if the tax free allowance is solely on property owned in Spain or would the fact that we will also have our property in the UK be counted also? Pro...

...bably confused myself even more by reading up on it, lol.

Hi,

Cant believe you’ll have to pay inheritance tax in spain for something in the uk.

I think HMRC would be joining the party at this point.

I think  you need to have 2 wills, one for the uk and the other Spanish.

I believe the Spanish will only needs to revert to the English one and your away...

You die, the abagado  opens the spanish will, which says refer to English will and that’s that.

Is it possible that now that the U.K. is no longer part of the EU, will Spain bring this tax back again?  I imagine that they will and that would be  bad news.

Rose,

It was the EU that made Spain stop this tax.....

Yes BUT we are no longer part of the EU.  They can do whatever they want.
