Before you go renting and without knowing all your facts, you should be aware that most portable units are noisy and require a place for the exhaust hose to go. This hose often gives out just as much heat as the air you are cooling! OK, so its not quite that bad, but you may want to think about it.
I returned different 3 units in the past for customers who asked for them and the units were, typically too noisy, making them unsuitable.
Depending on the room size and what you are trying to 'cool' you may want to consider ceiling fans. Please also note these fans typically have a Summer and Winter mode on them! You buy cheap and you buy twice though. I avoid the ones with the dangly pull cords... they 'tic' and its annoying, especially if they are in the bedroom!
Not meaning to rain on your parade!
