Hello StevieC,

When purchasing home insurance, please keep in mind that it is very important to have a good sum on your public liability coverage, as this will help you in case of damages cause to a third party, so you don't have to pay out of your pocket in case that the coverage you have is low. I suggest you get a minimum of 600.000€, so you will have peace of mind.

The other thing you will need to know is, if its a holiday home for yourself, please be careful as some insurance companies have a "occupational period" this means that, if you are out of your holiday home for longer than 2 or 3 months that you will not be covered. This is important because if you are only coming to Spain a couple of times a year, in some cases you will not be covered once you leave.

If what you are insuring is a vacational home, as in, you will rent it out for short term let, please bear in mind you will also need a seperate Public Liability insurance as this covers you in case of a claim from a client.

If you need any futher advice, you can message me, as I work with an Insurance Agency through AXA (They don't have the ocuppational period).

I hope this helps.

Thanks very much for this!

It is only for family and friends so I will take your advice onboard.

Thanks again
