Hi

I have a property in Cardiff Wales that I wish to return to by car beginning October. I have booked my passage from Santander and hope to return at end of October to my home in Moriara.

Now that Cardiff is going into lockdown this Sunday does anybody know if I will be allowed to

drive to Plymouth to return to Spain.

Hi Rose,

Is your Spanish home your primary residence?  If so, Spain would allow you to return here.  However, if you arrive in Cardiff when it's in lockdown, I think the question I would be asking is whether the UK will allow you to leave?  Presumably you're planning to return by ferry - if so, have you checked that the ferry company will accept you travelling from an area in lockdown?

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you so much Kim for Your prompt reply to my query. No, my home in Spain is not my permanent residence. But we spend as much time in Spain as we are allowed. And yes your points are very valid. I think we will think of another plan.

Kind Regard

Hi

I’ve never drive to Spain in the winter because the ferry I use (Brittany Ferries) to Santander from the UK stops sailing in the winter. However,  I guess you could drive through France to the Costas.
