Can any one give me a rough idea of price for a eye test and price of prescription glasses please.

Why not try Specsavers? Click on this link and chose Menu option where you will find prices etc.

spanish opticians do not charge for eye tests. i don't know about specsavers, i support local independent businesses.

Curiously, Janice, I happened to hear an interview with the two opticians who started Specsavers in the Thatcher era. It may appear to be a massive behemoth, but in fact is not, it does not subscribe to the franchise model. Apparently every branch is independently owned and run, with, as I understand it, backup and supplies sourced from the originating firm. There will of course be certain tie ins and no doubt it’s awash with legalese, but to all practical effect, they are completely independent. The couple who started it actually sounded very nice and have apparentlylefttheir statement of wishes that it may not be sold on their demiseto a faceless mega corp.

I would never have dreamt of using them in uk, having appalling vision and a very expensive ophthalmologist, but have found the examinations in our local Specsavers to be more modern and thorough than there.
