Hi all

We are due in Moraira in September with the view to discover the surrounding areas & where we can look to move to. Could any of you please give us some suggestions of areas you  think would be suitable. Ideally we would like to walk (Max 2km) to a beach, have amenities, bars & restaurants close by.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, we live in Moraira, 10min walk from the beach or 2 min drive.  The Dutch have been buying up a lot of properties in and around Moraira due to its desireability.  Anything now on the market is most likely to be in excess of €350,000 upwards.

2 properties recently sold in our road for around that price.  Although they have a pool they have half the land plot than us and the 'socialising' areas were quite limited. We don't have an inbuilt pool (but plenty of space to put a bespoke above ground one) which we are considering.

Hope you find what your seeking but be prepared to compromise on your 'tick box' choices.  Pools are OK but require regualar maintenace at cost and unless heated, you only get to use it around 3-4 months of the year, unless you dont mind the cold.

I've just sent an Information Sheet to another person who is also considering moving to Spain.  I've included all the things you are NOT informed about when buying a property.

If you'd like a copy then PM me and I'll happily forward it one  but it is based on mg own personal experiences.  Always best to do your own research.

Blessings

We bought in Moraira in Jan 2020 , although we had rented numerous different places throughout Moraira over the previous few years. Our experience was there are no "bad" areas of Moraira, so a buying decision can be made purely on your specific preferences eg :

Budget , sea view / valley view , own plot / community , apartment / villa, close to town/ a little out of town etc. All these factors are fairly typical of any prospective buyer , however, strangely, the biggest lessons we learned from renting 5 - 10 different places all over Moraira before buying were :

1. Is the property insulated ( a few winter rentals in non insulated houses taught us a valuable lesson - it is very cold )

2. Try to get an idea of who your neighbours will be ( 1 rental on a complex had Spanish neighbours and every Sat/Sun their whole family 20/30 relatives descended on the complex )

3. Properties with a "terraced format" can have great views but living there is difficult , taking food/drinks up flights of stairs, stocking 2 kitchens and always running out / throwing away food you need

So, our experience was any of the locations in Moraira were fine , it was the specific property that needed the most consideration.

We're back out in September for 10 weeks and would be happy to share our buying experience with you if you wanted to, PM me if this would be useful.

Good luck with your move, for us it was the best thing we did .

KR

Mike

Hi,

We have just purchased a holiday home/villa in La Sella which is around 25 mins from Moraira & 15 min drive to Denia . We are near the Golf club & The Tennis club .

It is a beautiful area & location & we love it but you do need a car to reach most places where we have bought so if you are looking to be closer to the beach then Denia would be a better option for you

With experience of visiting Denia many years ago for many family holidays we loved it & the surrounding areas. It’s charm, mixing old streets with new characteristic bars & restaurants / appararently around 450 places to eat & drink / we are only a 15 drive away

Good luck with your search

Hi,

We moved to Moraira in 2020. I had initially considered El Portet but we eventually settled in Benissa Costa which is beautiful. We can walk to popular beaches and bars and have great views. We explored all areas before we purchased and had a lot of advice from Sally and Anthony Bloom who run Spanish Property Sales. They are British and have lived there for many years and helped us with a number of other things too!

I wish you success in your search.

Helen
