For the last four months I have to use an electric wheelchair to get around Moraira.

Many of the pedestrian crossings have a steep step making it difficult to cross without help.

I am of the opinion that they can be easily modified to a gentler slope.

You’re probably right Mohan, most areas will be the same

Hi Mohan,

As you've said you've been in Moraira for four months, I assume that you're resident in Spain?  In which case, I'd suggest writing to your Town Hall, ideally with photos of the offending steps.

We have been living in Moraira for the last 27 years.

It is about 4 months since I am wheelchair bound.

Getting around the village in an electric wheelchair is no problem except at some pedestrian crossings.

Maybe the enclosed photo elucidates the occasional problem

I understand perfectly, Mohan.  We bought a non-electric, self-propelling wheelchair for the occasions that my 95 year old father visits us, and whilst he can easily propel himself on the flat, he needs a push for most of the so-called "dropped kerbs" in Spain.

Perhaps a motorised 3-wheeler would be better.  I often see people negotiating the roads and pavements here more easily with the chunkier wheels and more powerful motors 🤔

As I said previously, best to write to your Town Hall - it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that planners should consult with people who need to benefit from these facilities, but if they're not fit for purpose, they need that feedback.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks for your message.

My electric wheelchair works well except at some crossings.

I guess I just have to avoid these.
