Hi and thank you for allowing me to join this Forum. I am thinking of buying in or around Moraira. Can anyone let me know what it is like during the winter months. I am interested i knowing about what facilities are open. Renting for a few months during the winter months is also an option if anyone can recommend anyone renting. I am not interested in being too far from the center however a few minutes drive is ok. Many thanks.

Hi Maverick

We have a second home in Moraira and we’re usually there from mid/late October for three months

I’ll say what it’s like “normally”.

Most, and I mean most, restaurants and bars are open, particularly the ones in town, tho’ they may restrict their opening hours. Bars that are little “sun traps”, great for a sundowner by the beach, may well close around 5/6pm. They are popular, and many enjoy going out late afternoon for a drink and then on to eat in one of the restaurants

Some of the bars and restaurants, particularly away from the town centre, may close say, after three kings, for a couple of months, then re open.

As there are a great many restaurants and bars, you’re not going to be limited for choice. As the town centre is quite compact, it always feels lively enough. It certainly doesn’t turn into a ghost town

This year was obviously different, but it did appear that people adjusted their socialising (before 6), rather than not going out. As with all other places I’m sure, the lack of visitors was noticeable

Moraira is very well placed to enjoy the surrounding towns of Altea, Calpe, Javea and Denia, all of which offer similar winter facilities 🤪🥂

Hi Maverick 49, I would certainly look at Javea, ( my sister & husband live near Javea Golf Course ) With Javea you get what I call the Old Town & the New Town separated by a stretch of sea & road.I would estimate 60 - 70% open in the winter months. From our experience Javea is a younger population than Moraira, but of course that depends on your age. Good Luck.

Hi Vinnybear. Thank you for your reply, this was helpful. You are not the first that has mentioned Javea which I will certainly consider. Many thanks.

View in the winter if possible to get a feel for what its like. Particularly for the properties you are interested in. Orientation is key and get some heating if you will be spending winter months here.

Thanks for the good advice. Older properties will be an issue in the winter months and orientation is important. Thanks again for your reply.
