Over the years I have perfected the art of oven cleaning! Buy a spray cleaner any will do the cheapest is fine too makes no difference. Spray all over the parts that are washable and leave on for AT LEAST 48hrs 3 days is ok. Wipe off with kitchen towel, all the hinge will just wipe off. Then wash well with warm soapy water. Buy a NANA brand pan scrubber it is a goldy colour ( has to be this brand, very tough good quality) this will bring off any small stubborn bits again with washing up soap.
If you wash out the inside of your oven properly there should no or very little smell and no fumes at all.
Good luck
Amanda
PS leave the shelves in when you spray include the shelves in the spraying they can be washed in the sink.

But dont forget to cover any vents giving access to rear element and fan with kitchen paper or something before you start. Patent oven cleaners if accidentally sprayed onto these parts may cause them to fail.
I worked for a long time in the bespoke kitchen industry and the manufacturers supplying to this end of the market never recommended ‘spray’ cleaners for exactly this reason; they preferred the use of the ‘paint-on’ or gel types if you had to use something.
Best way to clean racks is to soak as long as possible in the bath with biological washing powder
