It goes without saying of course that there can be no possible excuse for laying poison, it's despicable and I wish your dog a speedy recovery.

From a brief search on the Internet it would appear that Playa de la Mazarron may not be amongst the designated dog beaches in the area and if so could be what motivated whoever it was did it.

Your point about motivation is possible as these hateful people have been known to put poisoned food or even small glass pieces in dog food around Urbanisations in protest against the perceived mess being left. Absolutely no excuse for such behaviour. Hope your dog makes a rapid and full recovery.

Ruby was poisoned on playa de canina, a dog friendly beach 350 metres from camping playa de mazarron

I’m appalled that anyone would initiate pain and suffering on a helpless animal in any way to make a statement or highlight a point regarding the behaviour of irresponsible dog owners

Travelling in Spain from Ireland with my dog I am disgusted at the state of the filthy streets ,,,, education is the way forward,,, Im beyond words tonight praying my girl survives the night

I'm very sorry to hear about your dog.

What was the picture you showed at the start?

The picture is some of the material Ruby ate

We think it could be the poison used to kill garden slugs and it was scattered on the beach

It was blue/ green in colour

It is fast acting and highly toxic We were very fortunate to be able to get Ruby emergency treatment promptly
