I am planning to spend January to March in Oliva and I chose this area specifically because the beach is dog friendly.  I have been told that 'No Dogs Allowed' signs have now been erected.  Can anyone advise whether this is true, whether it is during winter months and whether the new rule is bejng adhered to.

Many thanks.

The new signs were errected during the last fortnight. Before this, there had been an informal understanding that, although dogs are not allowed on the beaches all year round, a 'blind-eye' was taken during the winter months, so beginning of October to end of April/May.

However, as a daily beach dog walker, the amount of poop that has not been picked-up this year has increased & I always come back with extra bags full of mess that's been left by other irresponsible dog owners.

Therefore, as Oliva is proud of it's blue flag beaches, I'm not surprised that the prohibition has been implemented. Saying that, there are still dog walkers on Platja Agua Morta to-date, but I feel the authorities may allow a little time for everyone to become aware of the new restrictions, before beginning patrols & issuing denuncias.

I can only feel this will make a difference to whether the many dog-owning campers come to Oliva, or choose to go elsewhere...

Thank you.  It is such a shame that some dog owners spoil it for so many others, it makes me so angry that people can be so selfish.

Thanks for that Nancybenn.

There are still the many irresponsible non-caring people out there and let's hope that they'll eventually come around ...
