There is a big advantage to living somewhere where you can walk to all the amenities, especially if you want to make friends and  integrate, but also as you get older. We chose to live on the edge of a small town that is big enough to have all of the amenities (shops, supermarkets, banks, Health Centre etc). Not only does it mean that we go days (weeks) without needing to drive anywhere, guests that don't drive can still be self-sufficient, and we know that if we are ill, or the car breaks down we are not going to be cut off. (Not to mention that we are getting to know all our wonderful neighbours and we see them so often).

I always keep an eye on 'Oliva Casas' the property office run by two ladies. I stay in Calpe usually but Oliva is a lovely place.  https://olivacasas.com/

We brought 14 months ago in Daya Vieja, smallish village but has everything and larger shops are only 5 minutes away, beaches 9 k away, a really good compromise. Great community spirit here.

Thank you that's so good to know! We have to sell here in France but hope to soon be on the move.

Something that I am confused about is the added costs of buying, fees etc.So much conflicting information, think we just need to go and visit and see what's what.
