Most banks will try to get your insurance when you open an account. Even if you take the insurance most banks charge up to 30 a quarter for non resident accounts. Resident accounts are usually free of charged if a minimum monthly amount is paid in.

As above, plus they charge for most transactions ie they charge you for the privilege of paying in money and for every online payment you make, related to the value of the transaction.

I'm with Sabadell and they don't. My online banking was included in the 30 euro quarterly charge. The only time they wanted to charge me was for a Bankers Draft but I managed to negotiate it down considerably.

I have never been charged for deposits or withdrawals.

no, they don't charge for cash withdrawals, but certainly we are charged for paying bills online - not the standard things like Iberdrola etc but we've been having work done and I've had to pay quite a few invoices for materials and services etc which have all attracted a charge - not very much but annoying!!!

And I was charged when paying in a cheque from my mother. But we do get a large rebate on our quarterly charges as part of the deal for some reason or other!!!

We recently opened a Sabadell Expansion account and so long as you pay in at least 700 euro a month then the account has no charges.

I read a posting recently on another forum from someone who as a non resident in Spain still paid in 700€ mnth but withdrew 600€ immediately leaving rest for usual services to avoid charges. I have asked him if he withdraws the amount in the UK in £s and whether he is charged for this. Unfortunately he has not replied as yet, but I later noticed he was a resident in France so maybe able to utilise euros. Has anyone else tried this with Sabadell and managed to withdraw money in UK in £s.?

Pauline.
