Denia is the local ‘centre’ for car dealerships. The main road into the town is like dealership mile - every make and model appear to be there, next to one another, on both sides of the road.
Most of the dealerships will have a second hand department, not necessarily of their own marque. If buying from a dealership, they would normally take care of all the re-registration of ownership and so forth; insurance would normally be through an agent - Liberty Seguros is very efficient as an insurance company, but there are others . usually your insurers will send a temporary cover to the dealer, to be finalised when the documentation is sorted out; this can take a couple of weeks as it basically goes through the local police department. Check that the price of the vehicle includes this transfer of ownership as the cost is in the region of 3 - 400 eu.
However, the cost of second hand vehicles is quite high here in comparison to UK and many people find it more cost effective to buy new as there are many well priced cars around. We ourselves bought a small second hand vehicle last year - we live miles out in the campo and didn’t want to be stuck if anything happened to one vehicle and had to revise upwards to almost double what we had thought was a perfectly reasonable figure to get something. Usually if they are cheap, they have very high mileage/and or are v old, unlike UK, as I understand there is no ‘fleet’ market to ensure a supply of reasonable vehicles.
