Hi

We are moving to playa Flamenca on the 1st October, should we be truthful with  the Halifax and hsbc about this as we want to keep up bank accounts open.  Has anyone dealt with either of these banks in this situation? Thank you, tracey

Hello

I've kept a UK bank account for 17years since I came to live here, I just gave them my new address and all cards & correspondence are sent here.   Do you think its a problem with some  banks if you live overseas - its always worked for me?

Basically none of their business you can open a basic payment account in another country even if you live in another country EU law ,as you are moving to Spain instead of letter statements have digital statements ,so no post goes to your old address

May I ask which bank this is, please?

Are there any extra charges or any other special conditions?

Hi

We have a Halifax current account. When we moved to Spain 5 years ago we just went into the local branch and changed our correspondence address to our Spanish address. It was no problem. We get statements etc online and new cards etc are sent to Spain.

Yes...I have a Halifax account and you can have your statements sent to your home in Spain.

But after a few years, they sent me a form to fill in and it was where I was resident.  I sent it back saying I was resident here in Spain with my address etc on it and I've never heard anything since.

I did try and set up a joint account with my son and was refused because I wasn't resident in the UK anymore.

I have my Widows Pension paid into this account every month and never had any problems at all.

Sue 😘
