Hi, we are looking at building a property on Monte Solana 2. This would make Pedreguer our nearest town. We've walked round a few times and it has good amenities but I was just wondering about the mix of ex pats and Spanish and whether it was welcoming.  We also noticed some anti tourism graffiti in the town. We have spent time in Jalon that seems to be a real mix of Europeans and I was just wondering if Pedreguer is the same?

I live in a village near to Pedreguer. While I can't say anything specifically bad about it, what I would say is that it's possibly the most working class town in the area. Apologies for introducing a "class" word, not intended to offend anyone. I don't think there are many British actually living in the town itself but there are plenty on the outskirts eg Solana

Jalon on the other hand has a much higher mix of other nationalities and Brits.

If it was me, and this is purely personal choice, if I had to choose one or the other I would choose Jalon or perhaps Orba which also has quite a few British.

Where you're looking at is however much closer to the coast so it does have that advantage.

Driving times...

Solana to Denia 15 minutes

Orba Denia 20 minutes

Jalon Denia 35 minutes

Remember the higher up you are the more exposed you'll be to the cooler winter winds and storms.

I'd agree with dinnerout regarding the assessment of Pedreguer and other nearby towns. I don't dislike Pedreguer but only go there when I have to, not for pleasure.

What led you to consider Monte Solana as the site for your dwelling?

This is really helpful and a fair summary thank you and is reassuring to know we seem to have read the area correctly.

I think you are right about the advantages of being nearer to Denia, shopping centres etc.

I love the development and the views but I have a nagging sense of being not sure about the location!

Thank you. It was the view mainly when we drove up and proximity to the main road compare to a couple we looked at in Jalon.

It's also convenient for Denia and the shopping centre etc.

I also think it's cheaper than Orba area although that is very nice too!

Hi, we are on Monte Solana 1, been here a couple of years and love it!

We have a residents club and there are a few of us who live here full time. There are a few nice restaurants in the area and we are expecting some amenities to be built on Solana soon (waiting for planning permission.)

Really nice mix of people who have properties here. Well placed for all local needs and an excellent medical center along with a helpful townhall. You can get almost anything in Pedreguer including Driving Licence renewal etc. If you need to discuss further use the PM facility on here.

Good luck

Pete

thanks Pete, thats really good to hear. I think we are pretty much sold on the location and heading back on Tuesday to meet the builder at the plot again. I may take you up on the offer of a PM when I have some more specific questions when we get closer to the actual move! thanks again :-)
