Hi, could anyone let me know where there are second hand cars for sale, I've got my NIE, but read on one forum someone couldndt get a car because they didn't have a " PADRON ", anyone please explain to me the process, what's needed to purchase a second hand car, and how long from buying the car to be able to get the keys and drive it.

I bought a car in july and all i needed was my nie and the money for it. Did a bank transfer and as soon as the money was clear i could take it away. They did the transfer for me and i picked up the new papers a few weeks later. They basically gave me paperwork that showed the car was mine until it came through. No need for a padron unless the laws have changed in the last 6 months?

Cheers Gary, i have rung a dealer in Spain this afternoon, he said u don't need a padron, just NIE number, a letter or something similar with your address on as proof where u live, passport n they can sort insurance out who they deal with then can drive away that day, only thing I might do is shop around for insurance even if it takes 2 or 3 days longer to sort. Thanks.

Yes is definately a good idea to shop around for insurance. The car dealer insurance does seem to cost more than usual. One piece of advice is to haggle the price of the car to include the name transfer on the car, jus saves a lot of hassle.
