Hi everyone, does anyone know of a well stocked hobby outlet that deals in needlework/embroidery materials etc.

Many thanks in advance.

You could have a look at Mercería Lady on Calle de Orihuela, 28 in Torrevieja.

I'm not aware of any hobby shops, but mercerías (haberdashery shops) in my area stock everything my wife needs - threads, DMC, Anchor, materials, vileda, Aida, etc. The only thing they don't stock is evenweave.

I'd tend to stay away from chinos for needlework and embroidery materials. They're OK for a lot of stuff, but you need to be careful what you buy. Don't buy needles or pins, as they're poor quality. Some of the crochet and cross-stitch threads are usable, but I've noticed that Margaret uses thread conditioner on them a lot more than she does on brand-name threads, and complains about them splitting.
