Hiya thanks for the reply,, obviously I'm not resident in Spain, would you know if  I have to be there to pay for this or can I do this online also,? Long story, short I had someone doing the returns for me and I was more than happy but this years fees had more than doubled, and the wealth tax had risen from the last 3 or so years from 82,27e to this year @ 103,92e according to the details sent to me to pay this.So do I go along with this amount he has calculated, or check to see if this is incorrect, maybe the taxes have increased in the last year? I can't see what he would gain putting an inflated Tax amount on the tax return.....sorry to load you with all these questions!!!

Ray

Hi Ray,

Are you saying that your advisor's fee, or the wealth tax itself, has risen from €82,27 to €103,92 this year?  It's worth noting that for non-residents who let out their property, there has been an increase is tax rates because of Brexit.

As a non-resident, you would only pay Spanish Wealth Tax ("Impuesto de Patrimonio") on your assets in Spain, e.g. your property, savings held in Spanish financial institutions, etc.  At a national level, the first €700k is tax-free and this allowance is per person, so if you're married, both you and your partner would qualify, i.e. €1.4m.  There may also be regional allowances available to you.

The company details for which I've given you a link can complete and submit your Non-resident property tax ("Impuesto Sobre la Renta de no Residentes") and for the additional fee of £12.95, they can pay the tax due on your behalf.

Kind regards,

Kim
