Hi

We are having a wall built it is a very long wall maybe 70 metres or thereabouts. We are having it will metal railings between the pillars and an electric sliding metal gate. We have been quoted 7,000 Euros. Seems very very expensive to me but would appreciate others views. This is just for the materials not for fitting. Thank you

For a wall that long that seems very cheap to me, I paid 3200€ just for fencing and gates on an existing wall 11.5mt long.

Hi Belinda,

That doesn't sound expensive to me - our electric sliding gate cost €3,000 around 5 years ago, and that didn't require any construction work, other than embedding the guide rail into the ground.

Last year, a neighbour had a similar length wall built alongside one edge of his property, which is 1.8m of brickwork and coping stones, without railings or gate, and that cost him €12,000 for materials and construction, but without knowing the construction quote for your wall, it's difficult to do a fair comparison.

Kind regards,

Kim
