Pete is correct in what he says in his post. Also if you require it you could go to one of the Post Offices for full information on the postal services, the one I know is at the side of the Commercial Centre of bars, cafes and restaurants down at Playa Flamenca beach.
This post that was quoted has been deleted.
Thanks Pete useful information.

You need to know the rules before you put stamps on an envelope.
Correos are entitled to charge extra for post which is outside a particular size range, the wrong colour, and address written in script rather than block capitals, and these capitals must be over a certain size.
And of course, with all the various tariffs, you need to set of accurate scales which are capable of differentiating between, say, 19 grams and 21 grams.
On the plus side, in twelve years none of the letters I've put in a post box has failed to arrive at its destination.
Thanks for that Jim will bear all that in mind. Not been here quite a year yet and still learning.

It took us a while to get to grips with Correos, so good luck.
Ours is only a little one, and it sometimes seems to depend on who's on the counter as to whether a letter/card get the lower or higher rate.
And on the topic of Correos, ours used to sell stamps - they'd just print out the values I wanted. Then they changed to white labels, and no longer sell stamps. Job protection?
My goodness a lot to learn. Just as well we realise we made the right decision and sell up and move to Spain we love it here. This forum has helped a lot even using it before we moved so thanks to you and everyone else that replies to our questions.

Spanish postal service (correos) is excellent. My letters to Uk are usually delivered within 3 days, sometimes earlier. Never buy your stamps at the Chinese and post in their box outside the shop. I tried it, one letter took almost 2 weeks and the other never arrived.
Thank you Josephine will keep that in mind. Thanks for your reply.
