Fresh or UHT? UHT stays on our shelf at room temperature and goes in the fridge once it's opened. I keep our fridge at five degrees.

We've never had any unopened long enough to test the notional storage date.

Once opened then it should be used within two or three days, and I'd expect the instructions on the carton to say that.

It is UHT semi desnatada. Both myself and neighbour had same problem last year as well. Mine is a fridge/ freezer. Maybe its because we are on our own and not using it fast enough. Thanks for your reply

We buy the same, in six packs. I don't use milk in drinks, and my wife doesn't use a lot, so a six pack probably lasts about two months - we've never had a problem and we buy from both Mercadona and Aldi.

Although you're supposed to use an opened carton within two or three days, we've found it lasts a lot longer. For example, when Margaret goes away she invariably leaves an open packet in the fridge - she went to Scotland yesterday for a week - I wait until the day before she returns and make myself a batch of pancakes. I've been doing this for years and never had a problem.

All I can suggest is that you use a thermometer to check the fridge temperature.

Checked my thermometer it reads 10 c. Googled it says it should go no higher than 40 f.  So now in a quandary wether to turn it down, because i have always had it just below 5 on the dial. Dont want to risk my freezer stuff melting. Thanks for your imput appreciated.

Fridge thermostats are notoriously unreliable if they give temperature settings. Leave the thermometer in and turn the stat down a bit. Continue until it's no more than 5 degrees.

Then go and tell your neighbour what to do!

I also buy semidesnatada from Mercadona, only have the ‘fridge part of my ‘fridge/freezer set on 2.5, and it lasts OK once open for several days without any problem.
