Covid test results

My partner is waiting for an urgent operation which was cancelled last week due to no beds in the hospital, booked in again for today but yesterday we were informed he had tested positive so operation cancelled again. He did 5 tests at home last week and again yesterday and today, all negative. However although it means that he will probably lose his leg as he has no blood supply I realise we still have to obey the rules. How long is the isolation? We were thinking from yesterday but his test was on Friday, they just forgot to inform us until we arrived at the hospital yesterday morning. Any help would be appreciated.
