We have been going to Santa Pola since the 80s and are wondering if there is any chance we may be able to come this summer or should we just write off this year

We are very much hoping to get back there in July/August, having shut up our partly refurbished apartment in March and returned to Wales for 4 weeks (we thought naively!). Spain has a clear(ish) roadmap for unlocking and Italy will be open from June. I think the problem will be whether anyone wants visitors from the UK.

Sadly the lockdown and border closure must continue until if and when it is safe to lift them but hopefully the restrictions will continue to be gradually eased until the point when the borders are open to non citizens and non residents, unfortunately no one knows the time or date when that will be reached.

Hi,

the EU is very much working on opening the borders within Schengen or within Green Corridors of similar infection rate areas.

I am quite sure that by August, Spain will have (partly) opened up its borders to (Most) Schengen countries, IF no deterioration occurs, and this is NOT CONFIRMED yet, and is solely my prognosis as someone closely involved in the travel/transport industry.

So do not despair, I would continue to prepare for an August trip, but keep an eye on official news from the authorities and be flexible.

We are moving also last week of August, as from the 1st. Of September we will have no other property than the one in Spain so our hands are bound by “force majeur”. If I was not confident in an easing of restrictions by that time, I would not plan this, but once again, nothing is decided or set in stone by the authorities and the conditions can quickly change for better or worse.
