Wondering if the norm to be asked to send passport details by email in advance of a viewing a rental property. Sounds like a GDPR nightmare but new to this in Spain…

Strange behaviour - I'd ask for the reason. Do not accept deposit over 2 months rent. Very rarely it will reimbursed. Carefully inspect the object and and list all possible lacks, imperfectios, and failings.
