Hello,

I am (with my spouse) re searching our new home, that would be in the Alicante region. I mentioned Santa Pola, because that's where we lied it the most, but it may be somewhere else.

We're living in Canada, I am from Slovakia, my spouse is Canadian. He's retired, but I have years to go and I'd like to carry on with my passion and that is singing or anything that touches entertainment industry. And besides that, I'd like to start /open a B&B. Would anyone be helpful enough to give me an idea where - for these purposes is the best place?

Thank you

Mia

Hi again Mia!

How strange that I just replied to your health insurance enquiry and I have found your other request.  To open a B&B you need a large house, very expensive.  You have to understand the Spanish law on houses.    In the campo (rural) area outside of urbanisation, you have to have in excess of 10,000 sq metres to build.  You are limited to 20% of the land area for building = 200 sq metre property.  That is not really enough for a B&B and your own space.

However: I have my house, of 200 sq metres, up for sale in Crevillent because my wife, after several cancer operations, find it too big to manage and we must downsize.   It stands in a plot of 12.5000 sq metres, completely legal, and, more importantly, has a legal outbuilding which cold easily be converted into 4 letting units.  We are 2 minutes by car to town: 20 minutes to the beach: 8 minutes to a fantastic hospital: 5 minutes to the AVE (high speed train) to all of Europe....

There is a choral assembly here, and In Alicante, 20 minutes away, the world of song is at your disposal!

Have a look when you come to Spain.

Kind regards

Richard
