Dear Reader,

We are living in Santa Pola. We had some difficulties in applying for residency in Elche. First they required a private health insurance. We have a healt insurance with sip card and pay insurance via the spain-dutch medical agreement. We showed the sip card. They wanted the s1 form. So we made a new cita previa, which was on 8th of may. So office closed because of the virus. At this moment we could not get a cita previa in Elche. So we made one for monday  8/6 in Alicante.

Question1: Is Alicante the correct place to apply for a residency while living in Santa Pola?

Question2: Does anybody know if the Foreign Office is OPEN on the 8/6. Can we conclude that after making a cita previa with confirmed return email that the  office is in fact OPEN?

Question3: Does Alicante Foreigne Office has any different conditions, comparing to Elche?

We would appreciate very much to hear some reply's. Regards, Ronald

I assume from what you say that you now have the dutch S1.

If an appointment is made online, you are only offered the national police foreigners office in Alicante.

For appointments made by calling in and asking, you can apply anywhere within the province.

The police website says they are now handling appointments for DNI and passport applications, but doesn't yet say when they will be processing residency applications.

The online appointment system isn't yet offering appointments for residency applications.

However, if you haven't received notice that your appointment has been cancelled, you should be OK.

Hi Jim, are you saying just visit a national police station and ask for a appointment, as I am sure I have read? Online only = Alicante, If so, can I do at Torrevieja? Or if not, where is the next closest one. Thank you.

I've heard several reports of an official at Torrevieja being awkward, and some months ago reports of Elche not being very helpful.

To counter that, reports of Orihuela and Playa Flamenca have been in the main positive.

Hi Peter,

I wouldn't recommend Torrevieja office.  We made our first attempt at residency there - the policeman was most definitely "awkward" and the place was like a zoo.  We were successful at our second attempt in Orihuela - a much more pleasant experience, in and out with residency cards in less than 15 minutes.

Kind regards,

Kim

I can recommend the police station at Orihuela. Much more relaxed and even gave me residency even after i forgot my passport. Plus you can buy them a drink in the bar opposite. lol

Hi, just to inform that the national police foreigners office in Alicante has started giving appointments to apply for residencies. We have been able to book two appointments still for this week.

Cheers
