Some residents on my community place clear plastic water bottles full with tap water around their garden. By all accounts it deters cats as they are scared of their reflection?

You need some feral cats to control vermin but if you have too many on your community then trap a few and have them neutured. Have the vet put a small nick in the ear of all females that have been neutered so if they are caught again at a later date you don't end up taking the same ones to ...

...the vets. Any kittens can be taken to or collected by a rescue when old enough to leave mum (who can then be neutured). Best to be kind. Get the community on board with a neutering program and you can get advice from charities such as Street Cats.
I do agree that feral cats keep all the vermin under control, what I am having difficulty with is understanding is the logic that vets will not put down feral cats, but councils do not have a sterilisation program for the feral cats, sorry that does not compute. The private vets want a excessive amount of euro to fix the females to stop breeding again we need to see state and central Gov appointed vets to fix these cats, so please someone let's hear when this will change for the better.

I think if someone feels passionate or motivated to see change on issues that vex them they should stand for election to their local council. Otherwise I really don't think we should be telling Spain how to run their affairs.

Those poor cats did not ask to be born or to be abandoned by their owners. Trap them, have them sterilized and in time the population will be less. Try and rehome the kittens. Be kind!
Very nice reply well done and thank you

The best to controll population of cats is to neuter, to neuter, to neuter them. Especially the girls!!!!!
BUT of course, this cost a lot of money! Me and some other Ladies from Monte Pego have paid a fortune for the stry cats of Monte Pego, BUT it is still NOT enough. Everyone complains about the abundance of cats, but those who complain the most don't want to spend financial support for professionals who keep capturing cats to have them neutered. AND one more thing, WITHOUT feeding street cats, which unfortunately is often complained, you CANNOT capture CATS. You have to get some trust.
Good luck if you also want to capture cats to have them neutered.
Neutered cats stay where they are, hardly ever wander, have fixed territories and keep the cities FREE from RATS!!!

We have a mother and her five lovely kittens who wer born under our home while away last August. We had the mother neutered and have had the pleasure of watching b T is family grow uo together. The mother is real caring cat to her family, unfortunately we have a time limit here in Catral,so we need a Foster home or a permanent home for this family, a nice garden, they are all potty trained, will feed out our hand another few seeks and they will be on your knee. Such pity we have to leave but no choice will someone take them on? Please let me know how to solve this problem.
