Hi,

I notice when hoping on the bus that most of the locals are using a card rather than paying for each trip. Is it possible to purchase a weekly hop on hop off weekly ticket when making my way around Torrevieja rather than paying €1.35 each time I get on.

thanks

Hello

No afraid not, it's a pay as you go bus service.

The local Torrevieja legal  residents can apply for  a Citizens card providing free bus travel amongst other things....the local bus fare for buses on the A - H routes is now €1.50 per journey.

Cheers

Thanks very much for the update Elin. It must have only gone up recently did it? It was €1.35 back in June. its a pity because its a very useful service for a family to run in and out but if I were to use it for a family to run in on the G route and out to La Mata on the A route it would cost €12 for four and the same back so it is just as handy to take a taxi. Another question I have that you might be able to answer is the fact that there doesn't seem to be a direct link from Torreveija centre to Vilamartin or Cabo Roig. It would be nice to take the A route into town and hop on a bus out to those places but there doesn't seem to be one - am I right ?

Hi Robbie

There isn't a bus  on the A -- H route going in that direction, the furthest you can go is line D/F bus - that will take you to Rocio del Mar & the Punta Marina Commercial Centre.

If you go to the bus station in Torrevieja, you will find buses that pass through Cabo Roig - some go to Zenia Boulevard & close to Villamartin but all will have a different destination on the front & just stop off in those places. Ask at the ticket window in the bus station  for more information. Printed timetables seem to be a thing of the past but you might find info online.

Bus fares went up some  months ago, 2 friends who didnt get Citizens cards before the increase told me, and Ive seen many people , who havent been here for a while, being informed of current fares by the driver....it had been €1.35 for years

Yes I got a taxi from Carrefour to my home recently for just over ,€8 so more economical for you in a taxi .

Cheers

Hi

I've found an email address for the bus company, but I've no idea how quickly they respond.  Info.torrevieja@avanzagrupo.com

Thanks Steve, I think Elin has given some really good information - it looks like going to La Zenia and Cabo Roig direct from the centre of Torrevieja is not an easy task as there is not a regular service which is very strange given its proximity

Hola,

You can buy a card from the costa azul/Avanza bus driver or the bus station which you can top up in advance and with this card each journey has a discounted cost of 1.20 euro.  I think the initial cost of the card is 2 euro but you save 30 cent on each journey. It is very handy, hygienic as no messing around with change, safer for the driver and passenger and clearly economic.

I’m pretty sure that there is a bus that goes to La Zenia Boulevard from Torrevieja bus station, I’ve used it in the past but do recall they are not very frequent? As for Cabo Roig, I’m not sure of direct bus, but you can get one from the Boulevard which passes through Cabo Roig

That is good news. What do you ask for from the driver? Is it the Autobus station you go to.? Thanks
