I do not know what the fine is but could include prison time and your car / automobile will be confiscated and destroyed..

Best get down to the driving school, pay your 1000 euros+ and sit the test in Spanish...

If you want to drive legally in Spain, you can use your foreign driving license for the first six months if you are from outside the European Union, or for up to two years if you’re from the EU or EEA area (European Economic Area).

Failure to exchange your current licence to a Spanish Licence could result in a fine of over 200 Euros if the police stop you. Another reason you need to exchange your licence is the law in other countries is different.

Have a look at the N332 website as it deals with anything to do with driving in Spain.   The site, and their Facebook page, is for English speaking people and is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil.   The website has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.
