We usually hire a car when we come over and we seem to be spending a fortune can anyone give me a rough estimate of keeping a car once we've purchased it we are both over 60 with clean British driving licences

It depends on size but if you went for a 1600cc probably around 300 euros insurance 50-100 euros tax, 250 euros a year parking at the airport unlimited visits, 90 euros for the ITV if you get someone to take it for you every 12 months and a service depends on who you use.
We foud it was worth it especially if you come in August!

Thanks that's really helpful. I didn't realise you can leave it at the airport is that Alicante and Murcia ?
Alicante Not sure about Murcia but I think it is more expensive!

We have a 1400cc car and fully comp insurance including breakdown cover with Cunninghams is 240 euros, tax at 60 to 70, ITV was 42 euros or add on 25 euros for the garage to take it, general service and pre ITV at 100 euros.

The insurance broker is Cunningham's and they have offices in the Costa Blanca, i have seen one in Benijofar. The policy is with liberty seguros and it can all be done on line. Make sure you have your evidence of no claims from the UK.
