Hi , i require some advise , i plan to purchase a holiday home in the  Alicante area and have started those conversations but i would like to retire to the area in 2026 when we are 60 . My wife is of Italian descent her father and grandparents were born in Italy and citizens  , so my wife qualifies for dual nationality , so our thoughts are , would it be easier/ more beneficial after Brexit 2021 to use an Italian rather than a British passport , to enter and apply for residence under an Italian passport.

As an EU citizen, your wife's income hurdle for Residency would be lower, and she would benefit from reciprocal healthcare.

You might be able to piggy-back your wife's Residency.

(It is expected that Brits seeking Residency status in Spain after the end of the Transition Period will (a) need to demonstrate significantly higher income than those who already have it at that point, and (b) that they will not benefit from reciprocal healthcare.)
