We had a bougainvillea which I loved. We had to pay regularly to have it cut back and kept in check but even when we were in residence, it had to be cut. Aside from cutting it back, we had to brush the patio three or four times a day! It became a part of our lives. Anyway, the tree wasn’t plant...

...ed on our land, I had trained it for years and a lot of it was now covering our property.

Ok. For some reason, the President of our urbanisation decided to remove it. It came as a terrible shock to us but now I’m indebted to him! No more leaves and dead flowers on the patio. I’ve put three large plants onto that side of the patio and had the hedge removed and replaced with glass fencing which runs up the side as well as the front. Painted the supporting walls white, put big white stones onto the old bed, bought solar LED lights to pop on top of the stones and the place now looks modern and smart. Goodbye Bougainvillea and sadly good riddance. You may very well feel the same. Don’t let this annoy you. In truth, your neighbour lives there but you don’t. Honestly, these trees grow like weeds and like you, we were madly in love with ours but hard to believe that we don’t miss it one little bit. sometimes these things prove to be a blessing in disguise.
P.S.  think about it, your neighbour could have poisoned it years ago so why now?  Chances are, it’s the terrible winter weather that damaged it.

you make some good points, thankyou, we have had our casa for over 20 years and visit many times a year he has lived there for 3 years so rather annoying but you could be right thanks

Hello everybody, we have a very high walls around our garden, we love the privacy and quiet. Our next door neighbours have a static mobile home and illegally rents it out. One day in 2019 they had a young couple renting and they used to look over the wall looking at our property. The next thing we knew he put up a cheap ugly white plastic screen. We tried to talk to them but they became very abusive. A few days after we put trellis up and planted Bougainvillia up to hide the screen. Today he sent a messages asking to take our Bougainvillia down because the leaves were blowing in his pool., when I answered saying why we planted it, he became extremely abusive and started to cut the Bougainvillia down. My husband cuts the top regularly or bends it over and ties it down. There was only a few shoots sticking up. His pool is the other side of the wall. He has never complained since it was planted 3 years ago as he has had renters staying none stop since 2019 using the pool. Today was very windy, he came out using foul language armed with an electric hedge cutter, shaking our trellis and cutting our Bougainvillia. We have been advised by the police to report them to the Council about their illegal renter's and unacceptable behaviour.

Hi, not quite sure the purpose of your posting.  If the Police have advised you what to do why are you waiting.  I would also suggest recording your interactions with your neighbour as evidence of his behaviour with your phone.

Thanks, I put it up to see if anybody else has come across something similar. We don't like confrontation and haven't had any problems for a long time
