Night storage heaters

Spanish homes aren’t insulated so  heat is lost very quickly.

In winter months when it’s hotter outside than in , it’s fairly easy to keep warm during the day just by sitting outside. However when the heat disappears around 4pm  would those electric heaters still provide you with enough winter heat  for the chilly evenings. 

I also tend to keep all my windows and doors open during the winter days  so that the higher temperature of the outside air can take the chill out of the indoor temperatures 

You would also need to ensure you are on the right electric tariff. The three tier tariff has recently  been at its most expensive during the night. But with the tariff where you choose your cheaper 8 hours  you could probably use that to your advantage  to store heat  say mid afternoon early evening.

Aircon is still one of the most cost effective ways of heating.

My previous response still applies, providing you can contract a plan that allows you to charge the units during the night.  Despite the increase in energy prices, Iberdrola has said it will honour our Plan Noche until the end of the contract in 2026.

Personally, I don't think they're expensive to run - the units are timed to charge between 1am and 8am at the Plan Noche off-peak rate.  I suppose the only slight negative is when we get an unusually warm day, but you can turn down the output on each unit as required.

I am on a FB group where a lady posts the electricity prices from an app every day. On several occasions, the most expensive times have been in the wee hours. This is meant to be for people who aren't on a specific tariff, but it's in sharp contrast to the UK, where the idea of storage heaters makes sense, not so sure in Spain.

We asked around,and now know folk who have them,and are more than happy.

We have the Sparks of Spain company calling tomorrow.
