Hi Peter,
We live in San Luis and like it a lot.
Pros- plenty of bars, restaurants, great bus service to town, Mercadona supermarket is here and there's a good mix of properties for all budgets and nationalies in the Urb. Great walks by the lakes. Prices in bars are cheaper than most.
Cons- Bit further from a beach, not as upmarket as some of the resort's along the coast such as Punta Prima or Plays Flamenca. During winter most of the bars here get quiet in the evening and usually the bar entertainment is during the afternoon. Depending on your preference, there may be too many non Spanish for your liking.
However, weighing everything up, we like it a lot here. It's a nice spot to live.
