Hi Vinny,

No idea how you could get on a mountain walk from the area you’re going to BUT you could enjoy a lovely walk around the Salt lake in La Mata. Or you could take your life in your hands and walk to the Sunday LEMON TREE ROAD MARKET!

Directions. Walk towards the YUGO GARDENS RESTAURANT at the end of the road  and you’ll see the beautifully maintained roundabout adopted by the ROTARY CLUB. Turn right and keep walking towards La Mata . You’ll see the busy N332 on your left. Keep going , you’ll come to a roundabout with an underpass which will take you over to the cemetery on the far left. The Salt Lake is along there.  To get to the market, take the narrow road off the roundabout and off you go. You’ll skirt the lake so can’t get lost. There will be lots of traffic heading for the market.  Wear a hat and lots of sun cream. Great cooked food when you reach your destination   It’s only a few miles at most so nothing  to a WALKER!

I will update re supermarkets shortly as I’ve asked my friend. I’d suggest you pack in some coffee and tea bags ( small zippy bags) if the property is a rental.

Lovely restaurants close by. You won’t starve. We arrive on the evening of Easter Sunday or I’d have done some shopping for you. We’re near neighbours!!

The weather should be lovely but bring a sweater for evenings.

Best wishes,

Grannyrose.

Hi Vinny,

I’ve just been told that the supermarkets will be closed on GOOD FRIDAY, open on Saturday and closed on EASTER SUNDAY.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Carrefour is open Sunday 24th, Sunday 31st and Good Friday 29th. I would be surprised if dialprix is closed any of the days or if Aldi or Lidl are closed on Good Friday.

You should contact this group for mountain walks. There wouldn't be anything local as the terrain is flat but further north in Alicante Province there would be lots of mountain walks and also in neighbouring Murcia.

The paths in the mountains are called senders.

We  walked and climbed  many of the senders in the region. We obtained maps in the tourist office . There are many senders .
