Seven months in Torrevieja. Teaching in an international school in Elche. Have had a bad experience with English and Spanish Tradesmen. Any advice or recommendations Please!!!

Hello

Sadly you are not the first to provide feedback. 'Good' tradespeople are hard to find.

Personal recommendation, trial and error, the forums... although I have read even people recommended on here have been given bad service unfortunately.

Be very clear with what you require, make sure the charge for the service is understood and, where necessary, tell the person what your expectation of what good looks like is.

Finally, if you are unhappy about anything then hold back some payment money until the matter is resolved. Be clear why you are witholding money, be fair and reasonable!

A good and honest tradesperson will not take your money until you are totally satisfied (apart from payment for materials if required). Also remember, if you HAVE been clear then, unless there are any issues which could not have been known by either party, the matter should be resolved for the agreed sum.

Hope it helps

Thank you kindly Mr UK HandyMan.

Need a reputable gas man to check and amend a gas pipe fitted to the gas hob. I have blue and yellow flames and black smoke on pots and pans when cooking  Last gas man attached a rubber pipe attached to the metal pipe with jubilee clip?. Think some air is getting in and smells a little. Don't think that's how is its suppose to be?  So dangerous living here, never knowing if the house will blow.

I would make a separate post specifically asking for a recommendation.

Is your gas mains gas or supplied via a bottle?

Yes be careful, I've had a gas certificated company who don't keep up with requirements for installation and blame the manufacturer for faulty goods in the end it costs you more even though you've taken the right route.

JuneR, a firm called Don Aluminio seem to get very good reviews on the Quesada forum, I think they are based in the same area, may be worthwhile giving them a shout.  Speak to Rob, 0034 642 325 054.

Rob has nothing to do with that company. He only is the front man that speaks english. I was disappointed when i found that out.

Rob might be a front man but we had work done in our bathrooms carried out by Emile from don  Allumino and his work was excellent and We would not hesitate to recommend him or the company and Rob is always there to translate should this be necessary.
