Watching the news last night showed how the EU are furious with Astra Zeneca for not supplying vaccines to them as quickly as they are to the U.K.  The boss of Astra Zeneca has hit out saying that the EU were very slow in placing their order. The U.K. had placed their order 3 months before the EU did so naturally would expect delivery sooner. Now, we hear the the EU are trying to stop our deliveries. Their mistake and not ours. What on earth were they thinking about? I suppose they thought they were covered having placed orders with Germany and France but now the french vaccine hasn’t even been approved so the gloves are off as they prepare to battle.

I'm not sure if the EU have approved the AZ vaccine yet.

Why on earth would they have ordered it?

A lot of countries pre-ordered from several manufacturers. I would assume that the contracts have clauses to cover against the vaccine not meeting expected standards. The EU is expected to approve the AstraZeneca vaccine by the end of January.

The fact that some in the German media have been rubbishing the effectiveness of the vaccine makes you wonder why they so upset about delayed delivery. Possibly to divert attention away from the slowness with the approval process and the slow pace of the vaccination rollout across the EU?

Aitch.

We, in Northern Ireland heard on the news this morning that they will commence vaccinating the 60 to 69 year olds starting immediately. This will be the Pfizer vaccine and will be carried out in mass inoculation centres. Meanwhile, the 70 to 79 year olds will have theirs in the local health  centres commencing on Monday using the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine. No doubt the same will be done on the mainland. A lot of happy and relieved people I’d say!

The dig is by Brussels saying that Pfizer has to apply for permission to send the vaccine to any third national country just because they think AZ are witholding vaccine from the EU its getting ridiculous...!!

I know we were never going to be given a smooth ride out but the amount of hurdles the EU are putting in is appauling, plus the clowns in London who think we are this super power needs to have a good look at themselves and what they are promising as we are going to be in austerity for a good amount of years to come.

You should be living over here in NI. We can’t buy plants from anywhere on the mainland because soil might be included snd not allowed to bring soil in... so say the EU. Since Brexit, Amazon can’t deliver lots of items due to import tax and we are supposed to be part of the U.K.  it’s frightening.

...frightening.

Its all a mess Grannyrose, I feel sorry for all of us they are playing god with our lives, me personally I would have rather stayed in and sort the issues that were there rather than leave us all in this mess, I honestly dont see it ending well as noone is going to give way especially the French they will do there upmost to have our lives over a barrel.
