Spain did order last December a number of different vaccines. One problem that arose was that the instructions for administering the vaccines needed to be in 27 different languages. I for one, although I would like the vaccine soon, am happy that all people who are giving the vaccine can understand the correct dose to be given. I believe that each of the vials can contain 7 doses. I do not want too much or too little of the vaccine.

Hi there, not wishing to start an argument but, there´s a reason Scotland is a little bit behind, please read....not like the Tories not to tell the truth....due to the media leaning heavily on the Unionists side, you mostly only hear one side of the story.....

MICHAEL Gove has repeatedly declined to say how many people in England’s care homes have received the Covid vaccination, despite attacking the speed of Scotland’s jag roll-out....

...

The Cabinet Office Minister was speaking to the BBC’s Good Morning Scotland (GMS) in the wake of Alister Jack writing to the First Minister to offer Westminster’s help with the vaccine roll-out.

The Scottish Secretary said the UK Government stood ready to help “accelerate” the vaccine programme north of the Border.

However, the Scottish Government said that their roll-out had achieved “greater depth in the programme than in England”.

Holyrood has also stressed that the Scottish programme has followed the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) priority list. This suggests completing the roll-out to the most vulnerable, such as care home residents, first.

However, rolling out the vaccines to care homes and to over-80s through their local GP practices, as the Scottish Government has done, is more time intensive than using mass vaccination centres, as has been the case south of the Border.

National clinical director Jason Leitch said the Scottish approach has been more “person-centred”.

Scotland will be using mass vaccination centres more widely as less vulnerable groups are given the Covid jag

Appearing on GMS this morning, Gove was challenged to provide the number of English care home residents who had been vaccinated, rather than comparing overall population stats.

Gove answered: “I think it is the case isn’t it that we’ve seen a significantly higher proportion of people across England than in other parts of the United Kingdom vaccinated.”

Pushed to provide the number of jags which had “gone into people’s arms” in English care homes, Gove went on: “It is the case that, as Jason Leitch has acknowledged and I think everyone knows that the overall number of vaccinations has been lower as a percentage in Scotland.”

Again Gove was pushed to provide the figure in question, with the BBC presenter highlighting that, in Scotland, more than 95% of care home residents had been given the vaccine. This is a different statistic to the UK Government claim that 100% of residents in England have been “offered” the jag.

The Cabinet Office Minister said: “It is the case that every care home resident in England has been offered the vaccine.

“It is also the case that every part of the United Kingdom is following the JCVI recommendations. And it is also the case that in Scotland fewer people have been vaccinated so far than in the rest of the UK.”

The BBC host then echoed Jason Leitch, who yesterday said that when comparing progress in the pandemic between Scotland and England, it depends entirely on which “league table” you use as reference.

Professor Leitch said: “Our prevalence is half of the English prevalence. Our mortality is two-thirds of the English mortality. So it depends which league table you want to demonstrate.”

The BBC host added that Scotland had half the English infection rate and a lower number of care home deaths in January, according to ONS figures.

In reply, Gove stressed the UK Government’s involvement in procuring the vaccine and “investment in science”. He also praised the NHS and the British armed forces.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster was then challenged on Boris Johnson’s visit to the Valneva laboratory in Livingston.

It was today revealed that Johnson’s visit took place despite Downing Street having been told of a coronavirus outbreak at the site.

Gove denied the trip was “reckless”, saying it was “Covid-secure and safe”. He insisted there was “absolutely no risk to anyone” as a consequence of the Prime Minister’s visit, despite 14 Covid cases having been confirmed on the site just 24 hours prior.

It was reported in a number of newspapers, last week, that every   person in English Care Homes has been offered the Vaccine. Unfortunately there has not been a 100% take up by residents or staff which makes it a little difficult to provide an accurate figure at this moment in time. Watch this space for  when or if we are given a factual total.

Watching the news last night showed how the EU are furious with Astra Zeneca for not supplying vaccines to them as quickly as they are to the U.K.  The boss of Astra Zeneca has hit out saying that the EU were very slow in placing their order. The U.K. had placed their order 3 months before t...

...he EU did so naturally would expect delivery sooner. Now, we hear the the EU are trying to stop our deliveries. Their mistake and not ours. What on earth were they thinking about? I suppose they thought they were covered having placed orders with Germany and France but now the french vaccine hasn’t even been approved so the gloves are off as they prepare to battle.

Hi rose,

I’m smiling, to all those Boris bashers out there in spain.

Not long ago we were being told how well spain had handled the pandemic and how bad the uk was doing...

An amazing fact for those interested is the AstraZeneca vaccine is sold at cost, as in not for profit.. think it’s about €2-00 a jab. All other vaccines have a margin of profit..

We are vaccinating at a rapid rate, out stripping the entire EU.

It’s also worth mentioning the EU were moaning about AstraZeneca supplies and they hadn’t even approved it for use ,comical really.

I see now some countries are saying its unsafe and will not inject certain age groups etc really, please grow up.....one minute moaning about supplies the next saying it’s no good...I last saw this type of behaviour at primary school....

I do hope everyone gets the vaccine if they want it ASAP and we can all return to a normal healthy life, but please remember the UK done well....

Really need to see where Europe is in about 6 - 9 months to see who has done well. My prediction is that when you look at the whole picture there won't be much difference. Our death rate and the impact on our economy are not good reading in comparison with others.

Reason Scotland is falling behind is quite simple....incompetence. You could count  Scottish Government successes on the fingers of no hands. Bifab, Calmac, sick children's hospital, education standards, drug deaths, named persons bill, NHS waiting times, Queensferry crossing, Prestwick Airport, etc. It's a sad litany of failures I'm sorry to say of which this is simply the latest.

I read yesterday thatSpain has an agreement with Astra Zeneca and is actually involved in the packaging of the vaccine in Spain and will be vaccinating ASAP using it.

Brexit and NI. Some people haven’t had any problems but yet again I have. I am very tall and tend to buy Ralph Lauren clothes because they are a perfect fit for me. The official site is fine as try ship from a Italy and delivery is fast and efficient. 2 weeks ago my sister, daughter and I did a virtual shop with the Ralph Lauren from their outlet in Bicester Village. Our calls were a great success and we placed our orders, duly paid online and presented our addresses for delivery. The following day is when the fun started. I received a very polite email explaining that they couldn’t send our order to Northern Ireland due to import / customs and they would happily refund our payments. God help that poor fellow, I told him in no uncertain terms that we all wanted our purchases and that we reside in the U.K. and we’re not prepared to accept any refund. Another reply arrived telling me that no couriers were delivering to NI.and would I like to have our purchases delivered to a friend or family member in England, Scotland or Wales. I replied that under no circumstances were they to refund stop us and we waited our orders.  I insisted that if their official site could deliver them why couldn’t they.  Te young man contacted his head office ad explained the situation, they have since printed special customs/ import labels ad our parcels will be despatched tomorrow.   John Lewis has lost a customer in me as they don’t deliver here either. Amazon is another. We are being treated like second class citizens. I honestly think that if this Covid pandemic wasn’t  keeping everyone in their homes, we’d all be out protesting.  The whole thing is utter madness. An electronic border check would have worked perfectly and allowed people to get on with their businesses and lives.  As for the poor fishermen in Cornwall, they’ll be destitute soon if the EU has it’s way. Read an article yesterday in The Times and the EU will not allow any of their high end fish in even though they were buying it in the past.  We are all being punished for leaving even those who didnt want to leave.  It’s time for the EU to behave in a professional and civilised way and respect the situation and the people of the U.K.

Aren't they (the EU) simply applying the rules for non-members?
