In answer to your question , no. We are part of the United Kingdom and I am talking about not getting deliveries from mainland U.K.  not the EU.  I have had several deliveries from Italy with absolutely no problem and they are in the EU.  Amazon, John Lewis, TKMaxx  and many o...

...thers aren’t delivering to us because they have to jump through all sorts of bureaucracy with import: customs which are totally unnecessary but demanded by this protocol which was set up by the EU.

I’m sorry but it’s clear that the EU is taking great pleasure in punishing us for daring to leave the union. Most people aren’t even aware of the situation but believe me, it’s a fact. I love to shop online and to find something that appeals to me and then see that they won’t deliver to NI makes me want to scream but there’s nothing we can do. We are stuck and have to suck it up. The unionist parties are trying to sort it out but the whole thing has suddenly turned into a political row. You people who live on the mainland are blessed !  We are living in the dark ages when it comes to politics and yet we live in the most beautiful country and floundering like a boat without a rudder.

They are punishing us by applying rules for people outside their club?

This was all predicted as a consequence of leaving and it is up to everyone to deal with it rather than complain about the inevitable difficulties that Brexit was bound to bring.

Personally, I thought Brexit was a stupid idea, but now it has happened the way forward is to accept the difficulties and try and build new relationships with the EU that benefit them and us, so we hopefully claw back as much of the lost ground as possible. Talk of punishment just adds fuel to the fire created by those few who will actually benefit from this move, and those few do not include you or me.

That’s probably true- which is why I think organisations beyond national governments should provide leadership. The WHO’s programme is slow, but hopefully it will ramp up quickly. Wealthy nations, however, could provide more leadership to ensure that global issues are prioritised at an earlie...

...r stage. In my opinion the current model (vaccines to the wealthy first, then what’s left hopefully redistributed) does not serve anyone well ethically or epidemiologically.

Item in the news today re covid vaccines to the poorer nations. AstraZeneca doses.

Aitch.

Yeah that’s the WHO programme I was talking about. Hopefully it will ramp up quickly.
