I am due to travel to Spain to retire by mid May or early June having applied for my NLV & having had the relevant vaccinations and tests, plus when it is legally ok to travel, however I have looked on the French website this morning that states that anyone entering France from one of seven countries, including the Uk , has to self isolate for seven days upon entering the country. If this is the case, my wife and I, plus our little dog, will be held up in situ, somewhere we would rather not be and to what expense? Neither of us speak French and before anyone says get a ferry from Uk to Santander, Bilbao etc, you have to understand that we have checked that out and there are no pet friendly cabins available until November at earliest and we cannot leave him in the vehicle overnight, as he would fret too much. We have sold our Uk home and are currently awaiting completion, which would be anytime now. Has anyone heard of this seven day stay upon entering France and if so, how would you proceed? I have emailed the embassy this morning and am awaiting their comment. Thank you.

I don't think it applies if you are travelling through France only if you intend to stay for a longer period

Hi there

For clarity, can you please state if you are going to apply for your NLV, you have applied for it, or you already have it. 🤪🥂

Hi,

I honestly think by this time things will have settled down. Everything seems to change week by week so hopefully by then it will be ok to make that journey. Worst case is you may have to delay it for a few weeks. I'm in the same sort of position, I've pushed back from May to June and then June to July then if need be July to Aug due to travel restrictions as we're bringing our 2 dogs and couldn't bear the thought of them not being in our rooms on the ferry. Good luck and I'm sure it'll work out just fine 🙂

That’s great. I had understood they were closed for appointments at one point. Obviously not now 😄

Would you mind saying what you did, what you’re expecting to happen at your appointment. A bit of a guide so far, if that’s ok. Members will be interested I’m sure 🤪🥂

Hi Lowsun10,

With Covid-19 regulations changing restrictions every couple of weeks, it would probably be best for you to bookmark this link and check back nearer to your time of travel:

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi there,

We are in the same position as yourself, and likewise are unable to travel on the ferry with our three dogs. We intend to travel via Eurotunnel, driving through France into Spain.

I have been checking the Eurotunnel, French Government and Spanish Government websites almost daily, for the most up to date information. You will need to complete the health declaration form and have a PCR test done to enter France, but  my understanding is that you only need to self isolate/quarantine for seven days if you intend to stay in France. As you will be transiting through France there will be no need to do this. You may however need to complete a curfew exemption form, if you intend to travel in the evening, as there is currently a curfew from 7pm in France. Although, I couldn't actually find out if this still applied to anyone travelling through the country.

I would be very interested to hear what response you get from the embassy as the guidelines aren't very clear.

The consulate staff were excellent and the process fairly stress free
