Knowing the unscrupulous nature of many cowboy estate agents operating on the Costa the reference to A Place In The Sun probably means they have watched a few episodes, 🤨

Being from Ireland, we did not follow a place in the sun much.  But we assumed it was respectable and companies associated with it were the same.  We were very wrong.

Far better to be independent and make your own list and use as many agents as you want without being only shown what one company want to get off their books and most definitely use your own obogado/lawyer for the sale & to check the property deeds & history out.

Well done, I could not agree more.

ROB SCOT  Quoted:-

unfortunately most of the property they had on their books at the time just weren’t what we were looking for and despite repeatedly telling him that over the three days he couldn’t show us what they didn’t have so we went home empty handed

We subsequently booked our own trip and arranged to view properties we selected mainly on the books of Casas Manuel and couldn’t recommend them higher.

After seeing the reply above it confirmed what I thought all along.  Viewing trips may seem attractive but in the end, you can only see what they have, and in your case - they had nothing.  I have been looking to see what SpanishLegalHomes have on their books and there is nothing that I like so I hardly think there will be an influx.  I had not heard of Casas Manuel and looked at their web site so I have made a note of eleven properties.  I contacted them and they even agreed to pick me up from the Airport.  You can't get better than that.  I will simply purchase my own flight (£79) and I will arrange for b&b for two nights.  If it works, then fine and if not I can go and do the same thing again without any pressure.  I do like being in control of all my to-ings and fro-ings.

Thank you Cheryl for your help.

Regards

Max

I would be wary of committing to buy a property after only a couple of days if you don’t have previous experience of Spain and the area you are looking in. If you like the area, as others have suggested, it is a good idea to rent at a couple of different times of the year to get a feel for it. To illustrate, we arrived 9th Feb, we have a lovely bright house, south and west facing, with a wood burning stove and electric heaters. We have had coffee and lunch on the terrace many days but needed to light the stove every evening before the sun went down. We needed a quick blast of heat indoors for comfort at breakfast. It started raining 3 days ago and forecast is for more rain today and tomorrow. Everywhere is sodden and looks nothing like ‘A place in the sun’. On the other hand, in summer we need our awnings for shade, close the window shutters to keep out the sun, and resort to air conditioning when the temp climbs into the high 30s. Think also about having a couple of bars/restaurants and somewhere to buy bread within easy reach. Best of luck with your search, there are thousands of properties for sale, don’t be panicked into buying too quickly.

Like ourselves.  We could not agree with you more.  Take your time and no pressure with those "no pressure" agents .  Those agents only want a quick sale at your expense.  I have heard good things about Casa Manuel.  Thanks all for positive reply.  Ye have restored my confidence in dealing with nice people.
