My friend had to use steroids in the end as it took a hold. Nasty virus I hope you feel better soon.

Dont stop the antibiotics too soon as it likes to come back!

As it happens Amoxicilina 500mg is what I always keep to hand.

If you just ask a chemist for an antibiotic then they'll tell you that you need a prescription, but if you tell them exactly which antibiotic and what size you want, then they will supply it.

Antibiotics; (review as an-aside)

Interesting stirring (of my memory cells), Many years ago, I was a mere child, my father. Now well departed (a pharmacist I remember, discussing with like-wise friends in the house of the 50s or 60s). They were discussing with colleagues working in this particular field, regarding different antibiotics, penicillin & derivatives. They were discussing the over-prescription, believing, that by the mid 21st century, most over-use of antibiotics for humans, animals, and food-stuff additive, substances used to kill micro-organisms would eventually negate the effective antibiotic usefulness. In particular. The alarm about antibiotic resistance has been raised a notch many years after, a global study on the presence of antibiotics also in the world’s rivers.

As I mentioned in EU (An ECDC study estimates the burden of five types of infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria of public health concern in the European Union and in the European Economic Area (EU/EEA). illegal non-prescription is not allowed, (but as I mentioned, we know, people in Spain can still, buy- it- over- the- counter).

As an interesting aside point, Just about every city and town in Spain that I have visited of any size, has a Dr. Fleming Street (Calle de Dr. Fleming).

The Scott, Sir Alexander Fleming back in 1928). Fleming's discovery of penicillin changed the world of modern medicine by introducing the age of useful antibiotics. Many matadors (matador de toros) getting gored in the Spanish ring, by a bull. saved them major infection, and "Death in the Afternoon" several weeks after their fight. Penicillin changed the odds a lot, Therefore, the celebrated Fleming still adorns the street names in Spain.

Thank you Villas, very interesting comment. It made me proud to be Scottish I must say as we are usually known as hard drinking, fighting individuals who don’t like to put their hand in their pocket lol. Regards

Please note antibiotics do not kill the virus. Presumably you are taking the antibiotics to help ward off any bacterial infections.

Wish you all the best sue8

Of course I understand it does not kill the virus but it provides our bodies with more ammunition to fight it and they have been a huge help to me. As long as people are not allergic to penicillin.

Not anything in your post. It's the eventualy ineffectivity as we mentioned before. Over-use. Villas.
