Went for a blood test at the S. Luis heath centre this morning. The most painful I have ever had, worse than being sewn up without any anaesthetic. After 45 mins it is still painful and the point of entry is puckered up. Oldest nurse there, probably has a thing with foreigners !!  now 30 minutes on My fingers on the left side have a slightly painful. numb sort of feeling and the area around the syringe area is painful. I will see how it goes..........

Hi,

I think your best bet would be to go back to the Salud and ask to see a nurse about it.

Hope all goes well :)

Go back to the health centre and explain what is going on. We can't do a lot about here.

Just wondered really if anyone else had had a similar experience. The more I think about, I remember  she entered the syringe at about 45 deg and almost to the hilt.

After a couple of hours it all returned to normal. However as I will be in contact with my GP tomorrow, I will inform her about it.

We have found that the people manning the desks in S Luis are reasonably useless depending who you get.

Hi,

I've used San Luis clinic for many years and had numerous blood tests but never had a problem.  They do insert the needle fully but generally very little pain and no swelling.

As for the staff , I know you say you have problems but I've always found them all to be very helpful (including the receptionists) and polite. I'm not fluent in Spanish but do try to converse with them and they do appreciate you trying.

I was referring to the receptionists!

We have always tried to do everything in Spanish, we both speak Fluent Italian which maybe doesn't help with the accents etc., (Along with English). I always remember the younger one who gave my wife an appointment, the absolute earliest, 9 days ahead. I got an earlier one for her, the next day, with Yo salud!

We have only been here 3 years or so and have only had half a dozen blood tests between us without any problems. maybe it was my turn for the bad one today. Time will tell I suppose.....

Actually last week I took a friend to the Triage at the University Hospital at about 17.45 with bad stomach pains. he was seen fairly rapidly, Had a scan and blood samples were taken for tests. About 8pm he emerged and was waiting for the doctor. Around 10 pm his earlier Urine sample was collected half an hour later he was whisked off to see the doctor. (He told me next day, it was another doctor that repeated everything.I did not see him again that evening. I waited until nearly 1.00 AM ( there were only 2 of us in the waiting room) and tried to find out what had happened to him, some pissed off orderly got rather ratty and told me he didn't know. Finally I went to admissions, a very nice lady told me he was under observation and fast asleep. My friend had asked them to inform me but they had not attempted to do this. The woman in admissions said they would call me the next morning regarding whether or not I should come to pick him up etc..............Nothing!

Many and I mean, Many people were waiting over 3 hours to be signed off so they could go home (Only 1 doc on duty), some in their 80s were still waiting at midnight. I helped two Brits to leave that had been signed off, the orderly would not let them out if they didn't order a taxi ????  Maybe it is for the best that Ribera should get their arses kicked out.

Not quite sure what your problem is. My father used to say "charm will get you a long way". Thought for the day maybe.

We weren't up tight about it just surprised, we learnt long ago that as foreigners here especially, being nice is all important !

After 48 + years in Europe we (My wife is Italian and I am English) have learnt a bit including German/ French and even bits of other more exotic languages, unfortunately not Spanish

I got my blood test results back from the doc, and she said it was all ok. I spoke about yesterday's extraction and have sent her a copy of what happened. When I spoke I could hear her typing so at least she was taking note of what I said in my poor Spanish.
