Cost of private specialist

Hi I'm afraid I've become quite poorly while here in Spain and have had excellent help from the doctors however I've been Reccommended to see a specialist but not being a resident could take some time, I'm due to leave Jan 15th and have used my travel allocation, so I could do with seeing someone soon and I thought private might be the way to go otherwise on the first boat back to uk !! Once sorted it will take me so long to get well there, so cold and wet no fresh air! Has anyone an idea of a cost going private would be here in Spain?

Hi Mary,

Sorry to hear you're unwell.

When I fell down a flight of stairs and broke one of my toes, the cost of x-rays and treatment at the private hospital in Benidorm was €1,100 (covered by my travel insurance).

I respect that you haven't shared what the problem is, but as well as seeing a specialist, if you then require hospitalisation and/or surgery, it is likely to be very expensive.

Phew! Thanks for this, it's just a chest x ray showed something but as I've just had bronchitis hoping nothing more than stronger antibiotics🤗

Hi Mary,

In that case, I'd recommend contacting Quiron Salud, the private hospital in Torrevieja:

They have English speakers, so you can explain what you need and they should be able to give you the cost.

The good news is that many medications are much cheaper than in the UK, so if it transpires that you only need antibiotics, these can be bought cheaply from a Farmacia.
