I am looking for a good medical insurance that will cover A&E also any hospital stay.not adeslas just counted them off same with dental cost a for tune to pay for policy and also had to pay for treatments.with them years too.any leads would be great thanks

Hello Mandy 15. I replied on this site not so long ago to a very similar post. I have used DKV Health Insurance in Spain for many years. I pay just shy of 230 euros per month, ( heading towards say 3,000 euros per year). I was ill recently, my Imed bill was around 16,000 euros which was paid with no quibbles via DKV. Then I was "shot down in flames, or tried to be" via one of the Bright Sparks on this site, O !!!!!! I had a policy via J Cunningham for say 1,300 euros per year it was acceptable for Residency etc etc etc. Of course one will always hear of a better quote however do the bloody companies really pay out in a crisis situation without wanting "the far end of a fart from the policy holder". You may if you so desire defraud the UK as many on this site do and use the S1, EHick or Ghick card. O we are just on holiday when really many are living in Spain but use a Daughters or a Sons/Relatives address from the UK which I am sure various people also claim UK Benefits in the same way having read into various posts on this site. Give DKV a telephone call on 976991199 or 976506000. This company are not Mickey Mouse and will stand by one 110%. Discuss matters, Tell them your concerns and needs. I think there are also websites in Spanish that compare insurance policies like almost every other country in the world..
I do not know any but maybe another helpful member can provide..

Somewhat unnecessary inflammatory language in that post regarding the use of S1 and GHIC.
If you're entitled to an S1 having paid into the UK system but then choose to live abroad then using language such as "defraud" is clearly nonsense as that carries criminal connotations.
I would have more understanding of your point if you said there are people using GHIC who are living under the radar permanently in Spain. I've no idea what this number is but I'm sure there are a few - but I suspect them to be a very small and ever decreasing minority especially since Brexit tightened up the border control position.
For those travelling to Spain from the UK and within the confines of the regulations and having a validly issued GHIC, then again I don't see that as any form of fraud.
Lastly, on the point of maintaining private health care provision whilst also having legitimate access to state provided healthcare, then that is clearly a personal choice and that added costs likely comes with increased flexibility either in terms of speed of access or in terms of where one is treated.

Now you have stated you are a Non Resident, perhaps for peace of mind and UK government recommendations (if British) you should take out a travel insurance policy.

We found Mapfre to be very good. Everything seemed to be covered including hospital stays and surgery.
