If you are buying with a mortgage from the bank and don't want their insurance they will increase the interest rate. they also will require life insurance and the same thing happens again.

There is Linea directa, or something similar I think, but there are many insurance brokers/agents out there, get a few quotes. If you are in Torrevieja, there is an English speaking one on the (Av Delfina Viudes) edge of the industrial estate near the Plant nursery, Tanatoria and opposite the lit...

Thank you will be a holiday home three months at a time in San Louis  Take care many thank Angela 66

Check around Angela, I will likely plumb for liberty seguros, assuming I her free of the clutches of Sabadell. Still waiting for a reply or a return phone call which was promised.

Just had an email reply to my complaint to Sabadell but no  promised return phone call. They commit to replying with a resolution  within a month.  Cover due 25th FEB so no bloody hurry.  Anyhow, we'll see what happens and I'll post an update.

All this mullarky wouldn't have happened if they had issued a renewal notice, told me I needed to contact them within 30 days of renewal to cancel, and then the problem would solely have been mine.  The way it's set up. Auto renewal at whatever terms is bound to be problematic but perhaps acceptable to the bank, as most people will simply let it roll over.   As a by the by, I had an appointment with Holabank, very informative and pretty straight-forward, and I think I'll switch to them. They charge the same fees as Sabadell, but the service  and some add-ons seems a bit better.  Moral of the story tho for Sabadell, I would have stayed with them except for this insurance issue.   As a by the by, I will keep a Spanish account as I'll move here in two years or less and it will be free anyway.

It’s not just the banks that do this but also the insurance companies, sometimes the only time you realise is when money has been taken out of your account without any notification. I now keep a diary of when any insurance is up for renewal 6 weeks before the renewal dates. Also try going to some of the brokers such as rightmove insurance who have always sent me details about renewal, however even these brokers can sometimes get it wrong.

My house insurance is due for renewal with Banc Sabadell later in the month. I received no notification of renewal and no price to renew. This despite the fact that I use the Sabadell banking app and they can manage to notify me via the app when I make a withdrawal from my account. I rang yesterd...

...ay and was given a quote which seems quite high. It is roughly  just 40 Euro less than my home insurance in IRL which is for a far larger and more expensive home with far more contents - twice indeed  what I have here.

I rang around and got a far better quote and vastly better cover  for 60 Euro less than Sabadell. I rang back to cancel and Sabadell tell me I cannot cancel this cover, indeed I am compelled to take it because it is within 30 days of renewal, so the 'window' to change has past. I explained that I had had no renewal notice and no notification of the price.  Sorry about that, but you COULD have called, it's up to YOU to follow up on both the renewal date and the price. All the REP could offer was that I could pay in two halves.

I am UTTERLY livid with Sabadell. This smacks of  extremely sharp practice. I explained that effectively what she was saying was that  because I hadn't contacted them, they in effect  could bill me what they darn well like and I am obligated to pay it. She didn't argue with this description.  I used to work in insurance, I have never heard the like of this: ever. I told the REP  that Sabadell would be losing both a  banking  and an insurance customer and the best she could offer was to pass this to the branch in San Luis so that they could ring me and tell me the same thing.

I post this so that others may not be caught out like I was. Apparently in  Spain this kind of shenanigins is legal.

It used to be 2 months notice and like you, I never received a reminder.

I now make a note in my diary to email and say I'll be looking for competitive quotes and I need the price before that time is up.

Whatever way the complaint goes, Sabadell will be losing a customer. This has so cheesed me off.

I can only recant my experience.

Sabadell need a months notice at least as in the condition  , then they wanted to know why , in my case I had been calling Sabadell insurance over leak then complain but after months of getting no were plus no way to communicate by phone as they don’t anser ,after 2 years using them decided enough is enough .

I-cancelled at my branch 6 weeks before renewal date plus got a signed and stamped paper confirming cancellation at counter ,still they took payment 6 weeks later then it took a month after plus daily regular visits to branch ( were staff told me no one answers the phone to them )to get money back was absolute nightmare, have to say Cusomer service at Sabadell is out to lunch all day .

Not to mention the commission charges on brits .

Check out trip advisor review on Sabadell it’s eye opening ,

Your not alone with this issue , wish you best in getting this resolved .
